Journey School Lynnwood is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We are a full-day program, offering part-time enrollment (2–4 days per week) and full-time enrollment (5 days per week), with children able to attend up to 10 hours each day.

For our toddler and preschool programs, children are grouped into classes based on birth months (January–June and July–December). This approach helps keep the age range within each classroom to approximately six months, allowing us to better support children's developmental needs and create more age-appropriate learning experiences.

While our program operates year-round, our classrooms follow a looping model, where children remain with the same cohort of peers as they grow.

Each July, classes move up together to the next program level, fostering strong relationships, continuity, and a sense of community. Although July marks the beginning of our new school year, enrollment and programming continue year-round.

Journey School Lynnwood is also licensed through Washington's State Board of Education as a private school, offering both a fully outdoor kindergarten and first-grade program. Many of our students continue their educational journey with us beyond preschool, creating a familiar and supportive transition into the elementary years.

In addition, we offer a summer camp program for children entering kindergarten through third grade. Summer campers enjoy field trips and outdoor adventures throughout our community, exploring local parks, beaches, trails, farms, and other natural spaces that make the Pacific Northwest such a special place to learn and grow.

Waitlist & Scheduling Tours

We would love to have a spot for every family who wishes to joins our school. In order for a spot to open, it requires a current child who is attending our school to disenroll. Once a spot opens, we give priority to currently enrolled students and their siblings to accommodate any schedule needs before offering a spot to new, incoming families.

When we offer spots to new, incoming families, we offer it on a first come first serve basis and will email families in the order we received waitlist forms, regardless of the schedule requested. Families are given 72 hours to accept or decline before we move to the next family on the waitlist. Because of all of these factors, it’s very difficult to predict how quickly spaces will become available.

To join our waitlist when it is open, a waitlist form is completed, which includes a non-refundable $50 waitlist fee per child. Once we receive the waitlist form and fee, your child(ren) will be added to the list. JSL reserves the right to balance our classrooms for factors like age, schedule, gender and classroom needs.

Once a space becomes available in one of our programs, we will reach out to the next family on our waitlist to schedule an in-person tour.

We intentionally keep tours small, with just 2–3 families at a time, so we can get to know each family, share more about our program, and answer any questions you may have. Please allow approximately one hour for your visit.

Tours begin at 10:00 a.m. and include time outdoors so you can experience our program in action. We spend time outside in all types of weather, so please dress accordingly.

Tuition

Tuition is billed monthly and is due at the end of each month for the following month's care. Children may attend up to 10 hours per day.

Tuition includes a full meal program, with breakfast, lunch, and two snacks served each day your child is in attendance. Our meals are prepared from scratch in our on-site kitchen using high-quality ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible and organic approximately 90% of the time. Tuition also includes all curriculum materials, learning supplies, enrichment activities, and field trips, ensuring families do not incur additional costs for day-to-day classroom experiences.

One of the ways we invest in quality is by staffing above Washington State licensing requirements whenever possible. We believe strong relationships are the foundation of learning, and by investing in higher staffing levels, our educators are able to focus on what matters most—building meaningful connections with children and families. This creates opportunities for deeper relationships, individualized support, responsive teaching, and a learning environment where every child feels known, valued, and capable.

To support competitive wages for our educators and keep pace with rising operational costs, tuition is typically adjusted annually in July. Journey School Lynnwood is committed to balancing affordability with the high-quality care, education, and experiences that our children and families deserve.
