Our program is open Monday - Friday from 7:15 - 5:45pm. We are a full-day program, where children can attend part-time (1 day/week) all the way to full-time (5 days per week) up to 10 hours a day. For our toddler and preschool ages, we have two different classes - one for January - June birthdays and the other for July - December birthday. Since kids develop at all different rates, we are able to keep the age spread between the oldest and the youngest child to approximately 6 months. While our program runs year round, our classes loop, a process where one cohort of children starts each year in July. Through this the classrooms move up as a whole, together to the next class. This offers While the new school year starts in July at JSL, we do enrollment year-round.

We are also licensed as a private school through Washington's State Board of Education, providing both a fully outdoor kindergarten and 1st grade. Many of our students continue on after preschool and attend our kindergarten and 1st grade, creating a supportive transition as children enter their formal education during elementary years. We also offer summer camp for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students. During this time, students get to enjoy field trips to explore many of our amazing local parks, beaches, trails and farms.

Tuition is paid on a monthly basis. It is due at the end of each month for the following month's care. Children are allowed to be at school for a maximum of 10 hours per day. Each day your child is here, they are served breakfast and lunch and two snacks. Our food is prepared in house from scratch in our kitchen by using ingredients that are not only locally-sourced but also organic about 90% of the time. Tuition also includes all learning supplies and curriculum material.

Tuition is typically increased each year in July to cover pay raises for staff and increased cost of providing care. JSL is committed to the affordability of our program while also maintaining its quality.

We would love to have a spot for every family who wishes to joins our school. Unfortunately our space is limited and we are currently experiencing long waitlists. Many of our waitlists have been closed due to the volume of families looking for care.

In order for a spot to open, it requires a current child who is attending our school to disenroll. Once a spot does open, we give priority to currently enrolled students and their siblings to accommodate any schedule needs before offering a spot to new, incoming families.

When we offer spots to new, incoming families, we offer it on a first come first serve basis and will email families in the order we received waitlist forms, regardless of the schedule requested. Families are given 72 hours to accept or decline before we move to the next family on the waitlist. Because of all of these factors, it’s very difficult to predict how quickly spaces will become available.

In order to join our waitlist, all prospective families are required to join a tour to see what we're all about. Once a tour has been taken, JSL has a waitlist form to be completed, which includes a non-refundable $50 waitlist fee. Once we receive the waitlist form and fee, your child(ren) will be added to the list. JSL reserves the right to balance our classrooms for factors like age, schedule, gender and classroom needs.

To Join Our Waitlist

Once a spot becomes available, we will schedule an in-person tour for the next family on our waitlist. Tours are conducted Monday-Friday at 10am.
We limit tours to 2-3 families per tour to ensure we have plenty of time to get to know your family and answer any questions you may have. Please plan for the tour to take approximately 1 hour. These tours also include being outside in whatever the weather may be. Whenever possible, please choose a date when all family members can attend.

Thank you for your inquiry. We will be in touch to schedule your visit soon!

At Journey School Lynnwood we believe in building and maintaining a strong sense of community. We encourage the active participation of families at our school and work to make sure they are supported within our school community and our classrooms.
